What am I teaching this coming semester?
We had a meeting with the school officials on Wednesday, and they were nice enough to let me out of teaching Speaking to 2nd year students, which would have had me start teaching right the following day. One of my teammates was nice enough to teach this class in my place since I am a beginner and need to start with something easier. So, as of now, I am scheduled to teach Speaking and Listening to 1st year students. And the 1st year students won’t start school until 9/20. That means I have two weeks to look over text books and prepare the syllabus, lesson plans, assessment, and curriculum and such. I am going to need all the help I can get when it comes to teaching since the only experience I’ve had was just 3 practicum classes in Hanoi. In the meantime, my teammates and I have also been trying to get ready to have students coming over for extra activities. It’s going to be a challenging year. It would have been great if I could just teach RF circuits instead. I can explain the difference between and amplifier and an oscillator better than explaining to the students the logic behind the different pronunciations of the ‘ou’ combination in ‘would’, ‘enough’, ‘thought’, ‘you’, and ‘flour’. I remember learning speaking and listening by watching all the reruns of Three’s Company, Leave It to Beaver, and the Andy Griffith Show…
